Kaapi & Karam · KnK Private · Questions
100% Pure Vegetarian
First floor · Reservations only · 4–24 guests
For the person arranging it rather than eating it. Parking, notice periods, minimums, billing, menus and what can be built around a sitting — the questions a travel desk, a tour operator or a family planner asks before picking up the phone.
The short answers
KnK Private is the private first floor at Kaapi & Karam, beside Sardar Mahal near Charminar — a closed, air-conditioned room taken by one booking at a time, for 4 to 24 guests. It is not a table you reserve in a restaurant. It is a room that becomes yours for the morning, the afternoon or the evening, with table service throughout and work by local artists on the walls.
Between 4 and 24 guests. Layouts can be set boardroom, or audiance style, depending on whether the sitting is a meal, a meeting or a mix. Tell us the number and the purpose and we will suggest the setting.
It is an entire separate floor, closed to walk-ins and closed to the street. The ground floor below is self-service and open to anyone; the first floor is not. There is no partition, no shared aisle and no other party in the room.
No. KnK Private is by advance reservation only and walk-ins are not seated upstairs at any time. If you have arrived without a booking, the ground floor is open 6 AM to midnight and needs no reservation at all.
Depends on the booking. There are two rooms. If you book the floor, nobody else is in it. That is also why the earlier you ask, the more of the day you can choose from.
First floor, Kaapi & Karam — beside Sardar Mahal, opposite the BSNL building, near Charminar, Hyderabad 500002. Plus Code 9F6G+GG. About two minutes on foot from Charminar, roughly a hundred steps.
Yes — on every confirmed KnK Private booking we reserve and hold your parking. Parking is the single hardest thing about hosting anyone at Charminar, and it is solved before you set out. Your guests step out of the car and walk in: no circling, no arguing with anyone, no long walk in the heat.
Tell us the number of vehicles when you book. That is how the spaces get held.
PARKING_SPACES vehicles are held on a confirmed booking. If your group needs more than that, or is arriving by coach or minibus, tell the events desk at the time of booking on +91 99517 90000 and we will arrange the drop-off separately.
Yes, with notice. Coach and minibus drop-off is coordinated in advance, usually near Gulzar Houz, with the group walked in from there. But with our confirmed booking, we can coordinate and see that parking is provided.
Four things are included on every package, as standard, on every confirmed booking:
They are the reason the room exists. First we take away the worry; only then does the experience begin.
Yes — clean, maintained, Western-style washrooms serve the private floor. For families with elderly guests and for visiting delegations this is frequently the fact that decides where a group is hosted in the Old City, so it is worth saying plainly rather than leaving to chance.
The floor is closed to walk-ins and closed to the street, with controlled access up the staircase. No strangers pass through, no other party is seated, and service comes to the table when you call for it rather than hovering. A confidential discussion stays confidential.
Yes, and we would rather you did. Come and see the room, the staircase and the washrooms before you commit — particularly if you are hosting senior guests or a delegation. Call the events desk on +91 99517 90000 to arrange a time outside service hours.
Contact the events desk on +91 99517 90000 with your date, time, guest count and the occasion. We will come back the same day with a menu, a plan and a confirmed price, and hold the room and the parking. You can also check availability online or email bluebell@kalakriti.in.
48 hours minimum, and more for anything with moving parts:
Shorter notice is sometimes possible. Ask rather than assume — but the room is one room, and a popular date goes early.
Yes, and it varies by package. The Charminar Heritage Experience starts at 4 guests, VVIP hosting at 6, Heritage Breakfast and Corporate Half-Day at 8, and the Deccani Round Table at 12. The full floor buyout has no per-guest minimum — it is a flat ₹20,000 for up to 24.
BELOW_MINIMUM_TERMS
Tell the events desk as soon as you know the number has changed. A headcount confirmed the day before is always easier to work with than one corrected at the table.
DEPOSIT_TERMS
Packages are priced per guest against a final headcount, so the balance is settled after the sitting. But advance will be required at booking.
CANCELLATION_POLICY
If your date moves rather than falls through, say so — moving a booking is usually easier than cancelling one.
Yes, for a short window. A provisional hold gives you time to confirm a headcount internally without losing the date. Because there is only one floor, we will come back to you if another enquiry comes in for the same slot — so a hold is a courtesy, not a reservation. Ask the events desk on +91 99517 90000.
Four services run back to back, from 6 AM to midnight:
A sitting is booked within one of those windows. Your package sets how long you have the room.
Yes — breakfast runs from 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM, and it is the most-booked service on the floor. An early sitting finishes before the bazaar properly wakes up, which is the only quiet hour this part of the city has. The Heritage Breakfast package is ₹499 per guest for two hours, minimum 8 guests.
Yes — hi-tea runs 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM with its own menu: a tiffins platter and a chaat platter, plus filter coffee, masala chai or khatta meetha nimbu soda. It suits an afternoon gathering, a kitty party, or the closing session of a heritage walk.
Yes — dinner runs 7:30 PM to 12:00 midnight, on the South Indian lunch/dinner platter. Evenings are also when the Deccani Round Table runs, which is dinner on the private floor with a curated talk, reading or performance built into it.
It depends on the package. Heritage Breakfast is 1.5 hours, Corporate Half-Day is 4 hours, the Charminar Heritage Experience runs 3 to 4 hours, and VVIP hosting is set to whatever the visit needs. A full floor buyout takes the floor for the whole service.
Yes, with notice. A sitting that runs across two service windows is arranged as a custom booking rather than a standard package, because the kitchen has to plan for it. Tell the events desk your start and finish times on +91 99517 90000 and it will be quoted accordingly.
Yes. The whole building is a 100% pure vegetarian kitchen — no meat and no eggs are used anywhere, on any floor, at any time. There is no non-vegetarian section to keep separate from your food, which is exactly why the room works for mixed groups without anyone having to ask twice.
Each service has its own curated platter, with a welcome drink and welcome sweet:
The full platter menus list everything.
Yes — menus are finalised with you in advance, not chosen at the table. That is the point of booking a floor rather than a table: dietary needs, spice levels and the order of service are all settled before your guests arrive, so nothing has to be negotiated in front of them.
Yes — Jain preparation, without onion and garlic, is arranged at the planning stage when you confirm the booking. Because it needs separate pans and separate tempering, notice makes a real difference to what we can offer. Tell us how many guests need it, not just that some do.
Allergies and dietary requirements are handled at the planning stage, not at the table. Tell us when you confirm the booking and the menu is built around them. It is the difference between a guest being quietly looked after and a guest having a conversation about their allergy in front of the room.
Unlimited filter kaapi and tea are included on every package. Table service runs throughout the sitting, on call rather than hovering.
No. KnK Private is an entirely alcohol-free environment, and alcohol cannot be brought in. For many of the groups who book the room — women's networks, family gatherings, mixed corporate teams and delegations — that is a reason to book rather than a limitation.
Packages are priced per guest, from ₹499, or ₹20,000 for the whole floor:
All six are on the packages page. Every one includes the four guarantees as standard.
The Heritage Breakfast at ₹499 per guest, minimum 8 guests — so from ₹3,992 for the sitting. It gives you the private floor for two hours with a South Indian breakfast and unlimited filter kaapi. For a smaller group, the Charminar Heritage Experience starts at just 4 guests.
₹20,000 takes the entire floor for up to 24 guests, with a curated menu built around your occasion. It is a flat figure rather than a per-guest one, which makes it the better value above roughly sixteen people and the simpler option when the headcount is still moving.
Per guest on five of the six packages, and a flat total on the full floor buyout. Per-guest pricing is confirmed against your final headcount, which is why we ask for the number the day before rather than charging in advance.
Package prices are quoted per guest and confirmed in writing when the booking is made. Your quotation states the tax position explicitly — ask the events desk for it in writing on +91 99517 90000 if your finance team needs it before approval.
Yes. Every package can be tailored, and a custom sitting can be quoted from scratch. Tell the events desk the date, the guest count, the purpose and roughly what you want the group to leave with, and it will be built around that rather than fitted into a box.
Yes. A guided Old City walk can be built around any sitting — Charminar, Mecca Masjid, the chowk, Laad Bazaar and Chowmahalla Palace are all within a ten-minute walk of the room. The walk is timed around your meal rather than the other way round, so the group starts or finishes upstairs with the doors closed. Allow seven days' notice.
A guided Old City walk, breakfast or lunch at KnK Private, and a filter kaapi tasting — ₹999 per guest, minimum 4, three to four hours. It is the package most often booked for visiting guests, because it gives them the precinct with proper context rather than stone and traffic.
Yes — a conversation with a working artist, a reading, a poetry sitting or a session built around the Kalakriti Archives, curated through the Kalakriti network. This is the format behind Mehfil-e-Kaapi, our monthly public series, arranged privately for your group. Seven days' notice.
Evening dinner on the private floor with a curated talk, reading or performance — ₹1,299 per guest, minimum 12. It suits a gathering that wants a reason to be in the room beyond the meal: a book, a speaker, a subject. We can suggest the programme or build it around one you bring.
Yes. Lac-bangle work at a family workshop in Laad Bazaar, or an attar session — the Deccani perfume tradition — can be added to any package. For overseas visitors the attar session is consistently the thing they remember longest, ahead of the monuments.
Because it involves people who are not us. A guide has to be booked, a craft workshop has to expect you, and the route has to be timed against the monument's opening hours. Forty-eight hours is enough for a meal; a walk with a lac-bangle demonstration built into it is not something to arrange the night before.
Yes — the room works as a start point, a mid-route break or a closing chapter for Charminar itineraries, with fixed group menus and a rate card for regular operators. Guides and walk leaders are looked after on every visit. See the tour operator resources or call the events desk.
Yes — GST invoices are issued as standard, and purchase orders, advance payment and corporate accounts are all accepted. Standard vendor onboarding paperwork can be completed for your finance team; send it across with the booking rather than after the event.
Yes. Vendor onboarding paperwork, purchase orders and corporate account setup are handled by Neel Sharma on +91 79972 50000. Start that before the date rather than alongside it — finance approvals are usually the thing that delays a booking, not availability.
Yes — a display screen, projector and Wi-Fi are available on the private floor, with power at the table. Say at the time of booking that it is a working session, so the room is laid out for a meeting rather than a meal.
Yes. The floor is closed, access is controlled and service comes only when called for, which is what a panel or a confidential conversation actually needs. Bookings of this kind are common on the 48-hour notice.
Yes, and it is one of the things the room does best. VVIP and Delegation Hosting is ₹1,999 per guest, minimum 6 — full private service, a bespoke menu, guest coordination, parking and a heritage briefing, with arrival and departure planned in advance. English-speaking coordination throughout.
Two lines, two jobs:
The restaurant number is for the ground floor only and cannot take bookings.
Yes — a rate card and fixed group menus are available for corporate desks, tour operators and hotel concierges. Ask the events desk on +91 99517 90000 or email bluebell@kalakriti.in and it will come across as a document you can forward.
No. There is no lift in the building. KnK Private is reached by staircase only. This is worth checking against your guest list before you book — it is the one thing about the room that cannot be worked around.
Tell us in advance and we will seat the whole group on the ground floor instead, at street level. It is a different setting — the ground floor is open to walk-ins — so if privacy is essential and a guest cannot climb stairs, say so early and we will talk through what is possible rather than surprising anyone on the day.
Yes — fully air-conditioned throughout. A cool, closed room shut off from the street, the noise and the heat of the Old City. In this precinct that is not a small thing.
Yes — Wi-Fi is available on the private floor, along with a display screen and power at the table. Note that the ground floor below has no Wi-Fi; it is on the first floor only, for booked groups.
Yes. The floor is reserved, air-conditioned and alcohol-free, with a well-lit entrance and staircase, clean maintained washrooms, trained staff in uniform and CCTV in the common areas. Women's groups, kitty gatherings and family parties use the room regularly, and you are welcome to inspect it before booking.
Yes. Complimentary filter kaapi and a snack are provided for accompanying drivers, guides and walk leaders on group and concierge bookings. They wait comfortably rather than in the car.
No question matches that search. Try a shorter word — “parking”, “notice”, “GST”, “walk”, “Jain”.
Tell us the date, time, guest count and the occasion. The events desk will hold your room and your parking, and suggest a menu — usually the same day.
