Edition 01 · A new monthly series
Kaapi, Culture, & Kalam
An evening of Dakhani poetry in the heart of the Old City, five minutes from Charminar. Mehfil-e-Kaapi is a new monthly stage for the language, its poets and its heritage — and this is the first one.
Two voices, live, for an hour. Come for the ghazals; stay for the argument about them afterwards, over kaapi.
Poet
An acclaimed contemporary Urdu poet, celebrated for his ghazals and nazms.
Author & literary historian
Journalist, author and literary historian, with over three decades of work in literature, culture and heritage.
Charminar has never been short of poetry. What the quarter has been short of is somewhere contemporary to sit and hear it — clean, comfortable, with parking, and a cup of filter kaapi in your hand. Kaapi & Karam is becoming a community space for art, culture, heritage and food in the Old City, and this series is central to that, not decoration on top of it.
Mehfil-e-Kaapi runs monthly. Dakhani first, always.
